for Community Groups

Mental health problems are common in young people.

Approximately 1 in 7 young Australians experience a mental illness each year and half of those will have their first episode before the age of 18.

Many people feel uncomfortable and unprepared when thinking about starting a conversation with someone they are concerned about.  Mind your Head Australia can give you the skills to talk about mental health and having the confidence and knowledge to help a young person in need are important skills that any person in the community can learn.

“It has raised my awareness of mental health issues

Very worthwhile and relevant to my work as a teacher. It has raised my awareness of mental health issues among young people and what signs to look out for. I have a clear idea of what my role should be as a youth mental health first aider.”
